Gary Shilling – qathet film society Executive Director

Gary is actively engaged in the cultural community of qathet Regional District. A marketing and communications professional – he applies his practical knowledge to all aspects of the artistic visioning, financial stability, and organizational readiness of the qathet film society, their annual Film Festival, and the Patricia Theatre. As Executive Director for the Society, Gary is focussed on strengthening the role that film plays in the cultural and economic fabric of the region.

Peg Campbell — qathet Film Society Education Director

Peg is a documentary and narrative filmmaker, whose work has received international acclaim, with awards from the Genie’s, Banff World Media Festival, Melbourne Film Festival, Women in Film, Yorkton and Reel2Real International Film Festival for Youth. Peg’s films have been broadcast on CBC, Knowledge Network, PBS, WTN, A&E and The Movie Channel. Her social activist films seek to rebalance power and unsettle societal assumptions.
Professor Emeritus at Emily Carr University of Art + Design, Peg taught film production and screenwriting for over 30 years, and was granted the Ian Wallace Teaching Award. She is a founding member of Cineworks Film Co-op, Independent Media Alliance, Women in Film Vancouver, Pacific Cine Centre and Women in the Director’s Chair. She currently serves on the boards of the qathet Film Society and Powell River Council for Arts and Culture. Simon Fraser University awarded her the Outstanding Alumni Award for service to the community; and she was given the Vancouver Mayor’s Award for Film and New Media in 2017.

Linda

Linda Krepinsky, qathet film society Operations Manager

Linda moved to Powell River in 2018, leaving the bustle of Ontario for a nature-filled life on the Sunshine Coast. She brings with her a wealth of experience from her previous careers as a program manager in social services, and marketing professional in the educational publishing industry. As a longtime lover of films and film festivals and enthusiastic PRFF 2019 volunteer, Linda is thrilled to join the team in bringing this year’s festival to Powell River.

Nicole Narbonne, Communications Designer

Nicole is a professional designer, web designer and artist. She is passionate about Powell River: the history, the people, the future and continually works to make a positive change in our community. Nicole has volunteered extensively throughout the community including fourteen years designing and updating the Patricia Theatre and other non-profit websites, designing logos for businesses and community groups such as Community Resource Centre, Powell River Farmer’s Institute, Disability Games, and more. Currently working as a freelance designer, she is excited to put her energy and imagination behind the qathet film festival.
